For Nassau Bay City Council
Position 2

The unexpected and unexplained firing of former City Manager Jason Reynolds by a majority of the current, elected officials in late 2021 plunged the City into turmoil and resulted in huge, unbudgeted expenses which must be paid by the residents. To recover from this unprecedented situation, we can’t dwell on the past but must go forward with new leadership.
I support the following candidate in the May Nassau Bay election and am providing my personal reasons why they are the best candidate. I will be brief.
Bob Wilkinson is running for Council Seat 2. While Bob has not previously served in an elected capacity, he has jumped in and performed “hands-on” volunteer work with the Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful Committee and now the Nassau Bay Parks Committee. He was very active in the Fall Sweep and Peninsula Clean-Up events and monitoring and reporting on the status of Howard Ward Park at the monthly Parks meetings. Bob is currently serving on the Nassau Bay Tourism Committee which coordinates with neighboring cities and Space Center Houston to attract more visitors to the city. He consistently attends Council meetings and the Friday Morning Coffees, when they were being held.
When elected to Council, Bob will apply his enthusiasm and work ethic to assure a smooth-running city government, free of intrigue.

I’m Glenn Poché and I live at 18594 Martinique Drive. Barbara and I moved into our home in June of 1975. This has been a fantastic City for us live in and to raise two daughters in. During this time, I’ve involved myself in many aspects of supporting the City and its activities. A few are: director and president of the NB Homeowners Association, board member of the Nauticats, soccer coach, baseball coach, stroke and turn judge and starter at swim meets along with participation in the annual activities of beautification and peninsula clean up. I’m currently on the Board of Adjustments for the City and chair the Architectural Review Committee for the NBHOA.
For me life is about honesty and integrity – basically the golden rule. We teach and expect our kids to live by these concepts, and we expect our social and professional contacts to do the same. When our kids stray, we take corrective action, but when our contacts stray, generally we drift away.
The upcoming election in May is contested in all four open positions. I’m supporting and voting for Mark Denman, Bob Wilkinson, John Mahon, and Matt Prior. They have all either now and/or in the past participated in supporting the City via active engagement – this is not a “one-off” or a first-time involvement for them. They’ve demonstrated an interest in the City.
They too live by the basic concepts of honesty and integrity which are key to guiding the City forward. The following are a few key points about Bob.

Bob Wilkinson – Candidate for Council Position 2
-
Past member of the Keep America Beautiful Committee
-
Member of the Nassau Bay Parks Committee
-
Serves on the Tourism Committee
-
Participates in the spring/fall sweeps and the peninsula cleanup
-
As a retired businessman, he brings a solid background of leadership and management

Much more could be written about Bob, but the few bullet points reflect his sound commitment to the city – having acted and gotten involved - and there’s no doubt he will always be Putting Nassau Bay First.
Action always speaks louder than words. There are many ways to get involved with the City, and I encourage all who can, to do so even in a small manner. You’ll probably find that an initial small involvement will drive you to greater involvement. The City needs volunteers.
Here are some thoughts.
-
If you have kids, help the Nauticat organization
-
Like pets, help with walking the dogs at the city pound
-
Like to get dirty – help with the fall and spring and peninsula cleanups
-
Attend the City council meetings – 2nd Monday of the month
-
Attend NBHOA meetings – 3rd Thursday of the month
-
If the new City Manager holds the “Friday Coffee” sessions as the two previous ones did – attend
-
Buy a brick from CANBE and help with their funding
-
Join the Garden Club – 2nd Tuesday of the month (September thru May)
-
Express interest in one of the city’s organizations
-
…… - Many more options
Again, the May election is critical, and we need to elect candidates who are committed to the City as reflected by their actions.
I ask that you join me in voting for: Bob Wilkinson
